POLITICAL SCIENCE

The Department of Political Science, instituted in 1982, is a distinguished and famed department recognised for its outstanding academic programmes and contributions to the field of political science. For last four decades department has produced illustrious alumni who have achieved success in a variety of professions, including the arts, sports, politics, law, and government. The department is renowned for its high academic standards, innovative teaching methods  and commitment to developing the next generation of Political Scientists and leaders in politics and public policy. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers theoretical frameworks, comparative politics, international relations, public administration, Human rights and political philosophy.

The Department was instituted with the visionary leadership of Prof. P K Vasantha (late) as its founder head. Subsequently the department was headed by Dr. V.V. Kunhambu, Prof. P.C. Premavally, Prof. T.J. Mariamma and Dr.Dinesan DA. The current head of the department is Dr. Ajith Kumar P. The department currently has 4 teaching staff members; and a total of 170 undergraduate students, distributed across three semesters. The department offers a B.A. Political Science programme, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of political systems, theories, and practices. Since its inception , the Department of Political Science has consistently upheld a strong commitment to academic excellence and producing graduates who are experts in their respective realm. Its network of alumni keeps expanding, making a lasting impact on public service, politics, law, and the arts on a national and worldwide level. The department continues to be a pillar of civic involvement and intellectual research, educating the next generation to take on the intricate problems of democracy and governance.
