The Physics Department at Payyanur College organized an interactive session with its alumni on 6/9/2024 to bridge the gap between past and present, gain insights into career trajectories, and strengthen the network within the academic community. This event aimed to facilitate meaningful exchanges between current students and alumni, offering valuable guidance and fostering professional connections. The event began with a welcome address by the Head of the Physics Department, Dr. Prakash V. The Head emphasized the importance of alumni engagement and the value of learning from the experiences of former students who have ventured into diverse fields. The interaction with alumni of the Physics Department Shri Deneshan P, Asst. Professor of Physics, Govt Brennen College was a highly successful and enriching event. It not only provided valuable career guidance and inspiration to current students but also strengthened the alumni network, creating opportunities for future collaborations and mentorship. The event reinforced the department’s commitment to supporting its students and fostering connections with its graduates.

A felicitation programme for the meritorious students of UG 2020-23 batch Physics students was held on 21-06-2023 Wednesday at 2: 00 pm.  The head of the department welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest of the program Dr. Sreejith O.V., Post Doctoral Fellow, Oxford University, UK.  The chief guest interacted with the students for about 1 hr on “success formula after under graduation”.  Ms. Keerthana K (University Topper), Ms. Arya T V (University 2nd Topper), Ms. Drisya K (A+) and Ms. Nandana C.K. (A+ holder) was felicitated in the function.    The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Manoj Kumar N.

The Department of PG Studies & Research in Physics, Payyanur College organised a Research Workshop on 27.05.2023, Saturday at the Department of PG Studies & Research in Physics, Payyanur College in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research Committee of Payyanur College.  The workshop was held online and Ms. Shilpa Pavithran, Student Assistant, Friedrich Alexander University, Germany was the resource person. Her online existence and sharing of experience during the occasion made the event successful. The talk delivered on ‘Masters and Research Practices in Data Science Abroad’ has certainly motivated the participants.  A total of 40 participants were there for the program, including teachers, research scholars and students.

Kerala state Young Scientist Award winner and alumnus, Dr. Ambili K M was felicitated by Dr. V.M. Santhosh, Principal, Payyanur College in a programme conducted by department of Physicsin association with IQAC, Payyanur College on 24-02-2023 at Seminar Hall.  The programme was presided by Dr. Preethi Rajan M.K., HOD Physics.  Dr. Reshmi P.M. welcomed the gathering. It was a reminder that with dedication and the right support, anyone can overcome hardships and achieve their dreams. He emphasized the role of dedicated mentors and supportive faculty members who played a pivotal role in his academic development. Dr. Devadas's persistence led to academic excellence, eventually earning him a scholarship that eased his financial burden. His academic accomplishments opened doors to further opportunities. He pursued higher education, earning a Ph.D. in his chosen field. Dr. Devadas expressed his gratitude for the education he received at our institution, crediting it as the foundation of his success.

  The Physics Alumni Association of Payyanur College, in collaboration with the Payyanur College General Alumni and the Prof. K.T. K. Foundation, organized an online tribute program to honour the eminent physicist, Dr. Thanu Padmanabhan. The event was held virtually and welcomed by Sreedharan K.P., with the main talk delivered by Dr. Titus, a Professor from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The Department of Physics, in collaboration with its dedicated alumni, hosted a captivating and enlightening talk by our alumnus, Dr. Ranjith K., Assistant Scientist, Microelectronics Research Centre, Iowa State University, USA. The event aimed to provide an opportunity for students, faculty, and alumni to engage with a distinguished scholar in the field of Microelectronics. The event commenced with a warm and cordial welcome address by Dr. Preethi Rajan M.K., HOD and President of Physics Alumni Association. She expressed her gratitude to all attendees and emphasized the importance of such scholarly interactions for the academic growth and development of the department. Dr. Ranjith K, an esteemed scholar in the field of physics, delivered an engaging and insightful talk on the topic, Microelectronics. He skilfully combined theoretical concepts with real-world examples, making complex ideas accessible to all attendees. During the talk, Dr. Ranjith K encouraged questions and discussions, fostering an interactive environment. This allowed students and faculty to seek clarification, exchange ideas, and gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. He shared his experience as a student in our department which moulded him to focus more on research. The session was a great success, offering a platform for intellectual discourse and experience sharing. Mr. Sayooj V V, a key member of the organizing committee, delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event. He expressed sincere gratitude to Dr. Ranjith K for his valuable time and knowledge-sharing. Mr. Sayooj also thanked the alumni for their continuous support and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of alumni engagement in enriching the academic experience.
