Payyannur holds a unique position in Hindi studies within Kerala, with strong historical ties to the Indian freedom struggle. The Hindi Research Department at Payyannur College has been diligently working to preserve and advance this legacy. Since its establishment in 2006, the department has emerged as a significant centre for Hindi research, successfully guiding 18 doctoral students to completion. Currently staffed by two supervising teachers, the department fosters a vibrant research environment through regular seminars and workshops on research methodology and related areas. A well-equipped research library supports the scholarly pursuits of the department. Notably, all Ph.D. graduates from the department continue to contribute to the fields of teaching and research.
