Museum and Galleries provide an insight in to the history and serve as a storehouse of old artifacts, sculptures and objects. The History and Heritage Museum of Payyanur College aims at collecting, preserving, interpreting and displaying objects of historical significance. The artifacts are exhibited from a historic viewpoint with more emphasis on culture, rather than chronology in the presentation of the collection.
Museum at Payyanur College is the cultural expression of the life of the people of North Malabar. It is store house of memories. Pre historic stone tools, replica of Harappan seals, Megalithic Monuments, Agricultural implements etc. are thematically arranged. Eramam Chalappuram Inscription (1021 C.E) deciphered by MGS Narayanan is the jewel of our museum. The sculpture cult of North Malabar is well exhibited through the ‘Daru Silpam’ in museum. The museum throws light on the cultural diversity of our country through the Mannequins dressed up in various attires depicting the Indian states. Thus Payyanur College History and Heritage Museum is really a reflection of social, political and cultural life of North Malabar.
