The convocation ceremony for PG students on August 16, 2024, was a significant event, marked by the graduates achieving a 100% pass rate. Prof. (Dr.) V.M. Santhosh, Principal of Payyanur College, presided over the ceremony, distributing certificates and mark lists to the successful students. All the teachers and students attended the event, which also featured inspiring speeches from faculty members, celebrating the graduates' hard work and dedication throughout their academic journey.

The Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College, Payyanur felicitated UG and PG toppers and distributed scholarship instituted by Dr. P. C. Sreenivas on 16/08/2024 at 10 am.The programme started with a welcome speech by Mrs. Reshma E (Asst. Professor, Mathematics) and it was followed by the presidential address by Mrs. Shabna C T (HOD & Asst. Professor, Mathematics). Prof. Dr. Santhosh V M(Principal, Payyanur College) inaugurated the programme and handed over the  mementos to the UG students who secured A+ grade and PG students who secured O grade. Chief guest Dr. P C Srinivas (Former Principal, Payyanur College) addressed the students and appreciated them for their achievements. Later, he distributed the scholarship instituted by him to Vrinda Prakash K, the 2021-24 batch UG topper and Athira V P, 2022-24 batch PG topper. Sri. Nisanth A (Associate Professor, Statistics), Dr. Prsanth P (PTA Member, Payyanur College) and Abhinand (Payyanur College Union representative) delivered felicitation to the program. To conclude the event, Mrs. Jijina K (Asst. Professor, Mathematics) gave a heartfelt vote of thanks.

  Department of Mathematics celebrated 78th independence with great display of patriotism and unity. The celebrations saw active participation from students with Safana Ali (Third year BSc Mathematics Student) emerging as the winner of the photography contest. The theme of the essay writing competition was ‘Indian Mathematics’. Shifana T (Third year BSc Mathematics Student) bagged the first prize in essay writing competition. Members of the MATHS CLUB conducted a spot quiz on 16 August 2024.Interesting prizes were given to the winners. The programme was well received by the students.

Dept. Of Mathematics, Payyanur College celebrated the International LGBT + Pride Day (28/06/2024) on 03/07/2024. It was an attempt by the department to bring the understanding of gender, equality and dignity of QUEER community. This month is celebrated as a tribute to those fighters who were involved in the Stonewall Riots which was a series of gay liberation protests in 1969. A documentary on ‘Queer connunity: History by the Decades’ was screened at room W11 from 10am.

World environment day which is led by United Nations Environment Program and celebrated since 1973 is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. Maths club took an initiative to celebrate world environment day by conducting an online quiz competition. The competition was conducted in online mode which consisted 10 questions with a time limit of 10 min. 100 students participated in the competition. Vishnu C V from BCom department was the winner of the competition. Overall the program was a success as it gave an opportunity for the students to test their knowledge on environment and the reason behind world Environment Day celebration.

Maths club, Payyanur College, Payyanur organised an award ceremony to congratulating the achievers of the year 2023-24 in various co-curricular activities on 27th March at 11:30 am.Congratulating someone on the basis of their achievements is same as showing respect and support to their hard work and ability. Maths club took an initiative to congratulate the achievers of the department in every co-curricular activities such as arts, sports, intercollegiate fest etc .The main agenda was that to express the support and interest towards the achievements of the students of Mathematics Department .The achievers were honoured by The Principal   Dr. Santhosh V M with a medal and a certificate as an homage to their hard work .The principal and other guests even pointed out that it was for the first time that a Department from Payyanur College conducted such an event .Overall, the ceremony was a success.

As a part of the International Pi-Day celebration, the Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College conducted a program named “π-Marathon” on 14/03/2024 at 11.30 am.The programme was hosted by Mrs. Shabna C T (Asst. Professor & HOD, Mathematics). The Object of the programme was narrated by Mr. Suresh E V (Assistat Professor, Mathematics). He discussed about the hstory of pi and its applications in various fields. The occasion was an opportunity to recall the mathematicians behind the approximations on Pi and the Significance of Pi day.

The Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College celebrated International Women's Day on 07/03/2024 by organising a talk on “Women in Mathematics: Emmy Noether; History & Impact” at 11.30 am.The resource person explained about the discriminations she faced while enrolling because of her gender & how it affected Noether’s career. Then he discussed about the famous Noether’s theorem which formed the basis for making progress in theoretical Physics and Calculus of Variations. He also mentioned that as the Noether’s theoem reveals the fundamental relation between the symmetries of a physical system and the conservation laws, it made the modern Theoretical Physicists much more focused on the symmetries of physical systems.

Maths club in association with the Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College, Payyanur organised a Math Expo with fun game“ resolvons-le  ” on 23/02/2024 as a part of the National Science Day(28/02/2024) celebration.The inauguration was done by Dr. V M Santhosh (Principal, Payyanur College) at 10.00 am and visited the stalls and participated in the math games enthusiastically. All the schools in the locality was invited to the expo through e-mail before a week.

Professor, Mathematics) welcomed all and it was followed by the presidential adress of Mrs. Shabna C T (HOD & Asst. Professor, Mathematics). Chief guest C Raghavan Master (Rtd. Additional Director of Public Instruction) inaugurated the program and distributed the scholarship for the 2021-24 batch students Vrinda Prakash K, Catherine Shajee & Arun K who secured top marks in their 5th semester examinations. On this occasion  Dr. V M Santhosh (Principal, Payyanur College) honoured the chief guest by giving a token of love and then he addressed the students and appreciated them for their achievements. A one day workshop on LATEX was organised by the Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College on 25/01/2024. All students of III year UG, I & II year PG of the Department of Mathematics reached the College Computer Lab and started the program at 10.00 am. Mrs. Shabna C T (HOD & Asst. Professor of Mathematics, Payyanur College) welcomed the students by briefing them the importance of LATEX. The resource person Dr. Reena Sebastian (Asst. The programme paved the way to remember and honor our mother tongue and mother land. The Department of Mathematics honoured the chief guest Prof. Dr. Easwaran Namboodiri T C in this blessed occasion by giving a gift of love and the prize distribution of the elocution competition conducted in association with the celebration of Aazadi ka Amruth Maholsav was done by the honourable chief guest.

All the students of the Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College, Payyanur participated in the Seminar on the topic “KERALATHINTE PRADESIKA GANITHA SASTHRA VYAVAHARANGAL THALIYOLA GRANDHANGALILOODE " organised by the Kerala school of Mathematics, Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode on the occasion of Kerala Piravi day as a part of the MALAYALA DINAGHOSHAM via Zoom meeting at 11.30am. Dr. Manju M P (Director, Thunjan Manuscript Repository & Asst. Professor, Malayalam, Calicut University) was the resource person who explained about various old writing tools like Ezhuthani, Thaliyola, Pappirus, Chembola ect. and Ancient Mathematical Thaliyola Grandhangal such as Enjuvadi, Ganithasoothram, Bhadradeepam , Yukthibhasha, Leelavathi, Kanakkusaaram, Kanakkathikaaram and so on in which we can see the use of fractions, linear equations, series expansions of trigonometric functions and daily local calculation

As a part of Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration Maths Club, Payyanur College organised a programme named "PLANT A TREE & GROW TOGETHER !" dated 3rd October, 2023. The programme was conducted in association with the Department of Mathematics infront of the Department itself. A small barren land was converted to a small garden by the students and teachers of Department of Mathematics. They themselves have brought small trees and have planted with much interest. They waters those trees everyday each one taking responsibilities each day and is maintaining the garden well.

Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College organised a remembrance program on the death (22 August 2023) of the renowned Indian American mathematician Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao on 8/9/2023 at classroom W11. This program was conducted as a tribute to C R Rao who won the International Prize in Statistics, equivalent of Nobel Prize in 2023. The commemoration meeting started at 10.30 pm. conveying his condolences, Mr. Suresh E V (Asst. Professor, Mathematics) recalled Dr Rao’s services in the field of Statistics while addressing the students. The program concluded with a moment of silent observance as a gesture of respect to the eminent statistician

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav towards the celebration and commemoration of 76 years of independence, Maths Club in association with the dept. of Mathematics and IQAC, Payyanur College organized a poster exhibition and a speech competition on 14 August 2023. The Poster exhibition named “A journey through Indian Mathematics” was inaugurated at 12.30 pm by Kumari. Ameesha Rameshan, a III DC Mathematics student who was selected through a lucky draw. The exhibition successfully portrayed the vast and inspiring legacy of Indian Mathematics. At 2.00 pm the speech competition was started with the explanation of rules and regulations by Sri.Suresh E V(Asst Professor,Mathematics). The topic of the competition was ” Indian Mathematics” and students from various departments were participated enthusiastically. Each and everyone emphasised the immense contributions of Indian Mathematicians to the field of Mathematics. The winners of the competition was announced by the judges Mrs.Reshma E (Asst Professor, Mathematics) and Dr.Aradhana N (Asst Professor Chemistry). I DC Economics student Keerthana P got the 1st place and I DC Physics student Harikrishnan V was on the 2nd place. The program officially ended with the vote of thanks given by Kumari. The program was remarkably successful that it celebrated the greatness of Mathematics, the base of all things around us, yet again on this special occassion of Indian Independence.

The Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College, Payyanur in collaboration with Department of Mathematics, Dr. Ambedkar Arts and Science College, Periya organized an online problem solving session for B.Sc Mathematics students on 02/08/2023 at 7.00pm via Google Meet. The moderator of the program was Abin Balakrishnan, a student of First Year M.Sc Mathematics, Payyanur College. He discussed several multiple choice questions on subgroups, cyclic groups, permutation groups and cycles of Abstract Algebra. About 43 students from both colleges participated in the program and commented the initiative very helpful as the teacher of the problem solving session was one among them. The program concluded with the words of Mrs. Reshma E (Asst. Professor, Mathematics, Payyanur College, Payyanur) and Mrs.Ramya P (Asst. Professor, Mathematics, Dr. Ambedkar, College, Periya) hoping that the future sessions will be conducted soon with the same enthusiasm.

FILM SHOW screening the film "THE IMITATION GAME”, a film of international importance.Dept. Of Mathematics, Payyanur College celebrated the International LGBT + Pride Day (28/06/2023) on 26/06/2023. It was an attempt by the department to bring the understanding of gender, equality and dignity of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people to the forefront. This month is celebrated as a tribute to those fighters who were involved in the Stonewall Riots which was a series of gay liberation protests in 1969. At 9.:30 am everybody was called in the seminar hall and started the FILM SHOW screening  the film "THE IMITATION GAME" , a film of international importance. The movie started at 10.00 am after all the students settled and after a span of 2 hrs the movie ended

The Department of Mathematics, Payyanur College, Payyanur deposited Guppy fishes in the college rainwater reservoir in a direction to promote the idea of Green Campus on 07/06/2023 at 10.00 am on the occasion of World Environmental Day. All the students of the department gathered at the college rainwater reservoir and Mrs.Reshma E (Asst. Pro22fessor, Mathematics) deposited Guppies in it. The main objective of this green initiative is the mosquito extermination and to maintain the water fresh and reusable.  Sustainable Development is one of our priorities in all disciplines and our department aim to give our students a hands-on education which will make them conscious of what they can do to better the environment and ensure a healthy future.

The Department of Mathematics had organized a workshop on ‘RESEARCH METHODOLOGY ‘on 10 March 2022. Dr K T Ravindran, former principal of Payyanur College steered the programme. 116 students attended the programme. The resource person talked about his struggle regarding his career and motivated students to do more hard work.It was a different experience for the students.
