ADDITIONAL SKILL ACQUISITION PROGRAMME(ASAP),
2019-20
Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) , a joint venture of General Education and Higher secondary Education Departments, was launched with an objective to impart quality skill education to the higher secondary/undergraduate students alongside their regular curriculum. Foundation Module of ASAP imparts English language skills, Softskills and IT Skills, The module has five segments like Personal skills, Social Skills, Organisational Skills,Professional skills and Project presentation. IT Module The foundation programme helps students to acquire the skill sets required, makes them highly competitive and prepares them to secure a job. Aptis Exam ( British Council) is conducted after the completion of the module.
ASAP Batch at Payyanur College commenced on 4th February 2019 with the strength of 35 students from various departments. Though classes were conducted in the early morning from 8-20 to 9-20 attendance was always good. On the first day when freshers stepped into the campus, Asapiens welcomed them with plastic free sweets and motivating quotes. They passed such a relevant message of plastic free campus to the freshers. This initiative helped us introduce that ASAP Batch is running in Colleges too.
In connection with the World Youth Skill Day Celebration held all over the world,ASAP Club Payyanur College organised a remarkable programme titled SKILL DORADO. ASAPiens invited entire students of the campus to the Games & Contests held at Seminar Hall. The day long Skill Dorado was full packed with Skill talk on the topic Be Safe; Be Skillful by Ms. Sindhu ( CPO, Pink Patrol Police Kannur), Quiz Competition,Skill Expo, Entertainment etc.In the programme inaugurated byThe Principal Dr PC Sreenivas, ASAPiens played their role in organizing the event in an excellent manner
The presence of ASAP students was noted in the flood relief disaster collection centre arranged in the college. They collected materials from nearby schools and handed them over to the people concerned.
ASAP Tracer Survey conducted in Payyanur College, by Higher Education Department, Government of Kerala in collaboration with Nielson India, Pvt Ltd on 21.08.19 & 22.08.19.
Some of our students participated in INDIA SKILL KERALA 2019-20 & Reboot Kerala Hackathon, organised by the Higher Education Department, Government of Kerala.
ASAPiens voluntarily initiated and arranged an exhibition stall during Kannur University Art Fest held at Payyanur College this time. Craft works of ASAPiens Yuktha Partharaj & Indulekha were displayed in the venue. Besides, a rare expo of trending Fashion Designs arranged by Senior ASAPiens in association with TSP (ATDC, Nadukani,Taliparamba) was truly a manifestation of their skill. Language games & Selfie Contests attracted visitors to the stall. Students presented a memento to Hon. Minister KT Jaleel who made a visit to the venue. CSP Kulakkada, She skills passed out students have played their role in taking it to the next level. District Program Manager, Program Manager, Program Coordinator and the fraternity extended their wholehearted support and encouragement. In short, the skill expo, Handcrafts made out of waste materials, language games, Fashion Designs, CSP course information centre, Mural Paintings, Chief Guests etc. boosted the organizational skills of ASAPiens and the outcome of their effort occupied a worthy space in the hearts and minds of 5000+ students, the largest footfalls in Payyanur constituency this year.
