As a part of National Management Day, the Department of Management Studies and the Incubation Centre jointly organised an inter departmental business plan competition. Students from various departments presented start-up ideas. We are delighted to announce that first-year B. Com students Aryan Raju, Vinaya G.K, Dixon K. Jesty, and Joel Sunny secured the first place in the business plan competition Sparkz 2025. The second-year BBA student Vishnu Krishnan K. secured the second place in the competition.

The Department of Management Studies organized an industrial visit to Smartak Pvt Ltd, Kozhikode, Kerala a renowned footwear manufacturing company, established by V K C Muhammed Koya in the year 1984, on 14th February 2025. The visit aimed to provide BBA students with practical exposure to the operations and management strategies of the footwear industry. This visit served as a platform for students to gain hands-on experience and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. A total of 40 students participated in the visit. The primary objectives of the visit were to understand the production process of footwear manufacturing, gain insights into quality control and supply chain management, observe the marketing and sales strategies employed by Smartak Pvt Ltd, and enhance the students' understanding of business operations. The visit provided an opportunity to interact with industry experts and understand the innovative technologies and techniques used in the manufacturing process. Throughout the visit, students learned about the importance of innovation in product design and development. The visit commenced with a warm welcome from the management team and a brief introduction to the company's history and vision. The factory tour allowed students to explore various departments, including design, production, and quality control units. The production manager provided detailed insights into raw material sourcing, the manufacturing process, and the innovative technologies employed. An interactive Q&A session allowed students to ask questions related to business strategies and career opportunities. The visit concluded with networking opportunities and light refreshments.

With an innovative approach to applying textbook knowledge in real life, students of the Management Studies Department at Payyanur College, in collaboration with the Rural Entrepreneurship Club, organized a remarkable skill development exhibition, Opus 25, which earned widespread appreciation. The exhibition showcased the students' craftsmanship and culinary skills, featuring a wide range of handcrafted and homemade products for display and sale. The entire planning and execution of the event were managed solely by the students, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience in event management. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Santosh V.M., and was led by Dr. Vigi V. Nair, along with Archana K., Muhammad Thwayyib, Anju A.V., and Saleeth Abdul Sattar. The organizers announced plans to expand the entrepreneurship fair on a larger scale in the coming years.

The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, organized a Financial Literacy Programme for BBA students on February 1, 2025. The event will be conducted as an online webinar, featuring Mr. Anto Jose, an NSE Trainer, as the resource person. This initiative aims to enhance students' financial knowledge and equip them with essential skills in financial management and investment strategies. The programme is expected to provide valuable insights into financial literacy, helping participants make informed financial decisions in both personal and professional domains.

The Department of Management Studies inaugurated the Management Studies Association and organized an Entrepreneurial Talk on January 31,2025. The event was presided over by the Head of the Department, Dr. Vigi V Nair, and inaugurated by Mr.Tejraj Mallar, Managing Director, Krishna Oil Mill Pvt. Ltd. The welcome address was delivered by Archana K, while Dr. Santhosh V M rendered principal address and Mr.Hafam, College Union Representative, rendered the felicitation address. The resource person shared his extensive entrepreneurial experience with the students, providing valuable insights into the industry. The session also included an interactive segment where students engaged directly with resource person fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and practical advice.

Department of Management Studies Payyanur College conducted a National Management Fest “Thriamvos’25 “on 21^st & 22^nd January 2025. The management fest comprises of many management events namely BMT, HR game, Marketing game, Crystal Maze & Business Quiz. We have also accommodated Spot events namely Photography, Movie Quiz, Penalty Shootout and Mehandi Design. The main objective of this fest is to bring new talents and nurture them in order to understand the real business world scenario. More than 250 participants from 20 institutions from Kerala & Karnataka participated in this event. The total prize money was worth Rs 60000/.   The results of the event are as follows

The Rural Entrepreneurship Club jointly with the Department of Management Studies, Payyanur College organized an industrial visit to the Bell Metal Industry in Kunhimangalam, Payyanur, a notable player in rural entrepreneurship, on 3rd January 2025. The visit aimed to provide BBA students with practical exposure to the unique operations and management strategies of the bell metal manufacturing sector. A total of 20 students participated in this programme. This visit served as a platform for students to gain hands-on experience and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.The primary objectives of the visit were to understand the production process of bell metal manufacturing, gain insights into quality control and supply chain management, observe the marketing and sales strategies employed by the Bell Metal Industry, and enhance the students' understanding of rural entrepreneurship. The visit provided an opportunity to interact with industry experts and understand the innovative technologies and traditional craftsmanship involved in the production process.In conclusion, the industrial visit to the Bell Metal Industry was highly informative and beneficial for the above students. It provided valuable exposure to real-world business operations and enhanced their understanding of rural entrepreneurship. The Rural Entrepreneurship Club and the Department of Management Studies, Payyanur College extends its gratitude to the management and staff of the Bell Metal Industry for their hospitality and knowledge sharing, making this educational trip a resounding success.

Payyanur College, under the collaborative efforts of Botany PG Department, Management Studies Department, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC), has unveiled its new initiative, ‘Merry Mushroom.’ The official logo launch was graced by Mr. K K Suresh Kumar, President of Payyanur Educational Society, on December 13, 2024.The event was further enriched by the presence of Mr. Rahul Govind, a renowned entrepreneur and winner of the Mahindra Tractors Millionaire Farmer Award. Mr. Rahul Govind shared his valuable insights and experiences with the students, inspiring them to embark on entrepreneurial ventures. Dr. Deepamol P C, Assistant Professor of Botany, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. Prof. Dr. VM Santhosh, Principal of the college, presided over the function. Dr. P R Swaran, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Ratheesh Narayanan M K, Head of the Botany Department, Mr. Janeesh E T, RARS Lab Technician, Muhammed Thayyib K, Assistant Professor of Management Studies, Shamsudheen Muhammed, MD of Shopezee Group, and Diya Sunil, Vice Chairperson of the College Union, graced the occasion with their felicitations. To further promote the initiative, a captivating advertisement film created by 2 nd year Physics student V P Roopak was screened. Additionally, a mushroom and spawn sale was organized, featuring products cultivated by the Botany Department's faculty and students. The proceeds from this sale will be utilized to support economically disadvantaged students of the college. The Department of Management Studies, Payyanur College organised a One-Day National Level Workshop on Investment Strategies on Thursday, 5th December 2024. The event was presided over by Mrs.Archana Kemanabally, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies and inaugurated by Dr. V. M. Santhosh, Principal, Payyanur College. The workshop gave valuable insights into investment strategies, equipping participants with knowledge essential for making informed financial decisions. The session was rendered by the resource persons Mr. Cassin Rodrigues, Assistant Professor and Mr. Anoop K, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Yenepoya Institute of Commerce, Science, and Management. This workshop provided an excellent opportunity for students and professionals to deepen their understanding of investment principles and market strategies.

The Departments of Commerce and Management Studies at Payyanur College jointly organized a memoir to pay tribute to the legendary businessman and philanthropist, Sri Ratan Tata.College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Santhosh V M, delivered a heartfelt homage, highlighting Sri Ratan Tata's immense contributions to Indian industry and society.Students Thushar (Final BBA) and Anurag Gokul M P (Second B Com) presented insightful speeches on Sri Ratan Tata's corporate achievements and philanthropic endeavors, showcasing his transformative impact. The department of Management Studies conducted Freshers Day on 05/09/2024 (AN). The second year and final year students of BBA hosted the programme. Variety of programmes were performed by the students of first year along with a formal introduction of themselves. It was a joyful event.

The Department of Management Studies conducted the Teacher’s day celebrations on 05/09/2024.Students of the final and second year conducted the event. Thushar K V, Anagha T, Saleeth Abdul Sathar, Fathima P and Fathima Majeed took classes on behalf of Teachers handling Numerical Skills, Financial Accounting, Principles of Management, Legal Aspects of Business and Business Statistics. From the second year, Fathima Hani, Adith K P and Krishna T took classes for III-year BBA on Business Research, Consumer Behaviour and Advertising and Brand Management. This peer teaching programme was well conducted by the students as a mark of respect and gratitude to teachers of the department.

On August 19, 2024, the Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College hosted a felicitation ceremony for the top scorers. The event commenced at 1:30 pm with a welcome speech by Mrs. Anju A V, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies. Mr. Muhammed Thayyib K, Asst.Prof, Department of Management Studies, delivered the Presidential Address, followed by a Keynote Address by Dr. Premachandran Keezhoth, Principal in Charge of Payyanur College. The ceremony included a token of appreciation presented to the top scorers.  The department honoured A-grade achievers in the university examination. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Saleeth Abdul Sathar, III^rd Year BBA student.  

The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College organised a training session on Basic Presentation Skills, held in the college's Computer Lab on August 12, 2023 from 2:30 PM onwards. The session was conducted by advanced learners from the 3rd BBA, who guided participants through the essentials of creating effective presentations. The program focused on equipping students with practical skills in using tools like PowerPoint and Canva, enhancing their ability to deliver professional and impactful presentations. The hands-on approach and peer-led instruction made the session highly engaging and beneficial for all attendees.

On 22 July 2024, the Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, organized a program titled "Talk with Alumni," featuring Neethu Padmanabhan, a distinguished alumna from the batch of 2014-17, currently serving as the Contract Manager at Amantra Cleaning & Technical Services in Dubai. Neethu shared her invaluable industry experiences and conducted an enlightening session on career opportunities for management professionals in the Middle East. The event commenced at 2 PM and provided attendees with a wealth of knowledge and inspiration

The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, celebrates Environment Day on June 6, 2024. This event underscores the college's commitment to environmental sustainability and awareness. The department placed palm leaves basket and pen box for dumping plastic and used pens in BBA classes and the department.

The farewell celebrations for the outgoing batch were celebrated with pomp and joy. It was an event jointly organized by the I &II BBA. All the students of III BBA actively participated in the event, adding to the lively atmosphere and ensuring that the farewell was a fitting tribute to their time in the program. The combined efforts of all classes made the celebration a grand success, leaving lasting impressions on everyone present.

Department of Management Studies conducted Industrial visit for the students pursuing their IVth semester BBA on 07/03/2024 at Achoor Tea Factory, Achoor Estate,Wayanad. During the visit, the entire students were divided into two halves which were supported by the staff of the enterprise. They explained in detail the various processes and working of the firm. The students travelled across various departments and identified the actual structure of the firm. After the visit a presentation was made highlighting the progress and prospects of the company in future. Based on the visit the students are asked to submit a report regarding the same.

The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, organised a talk on "Managerial Development Skills," on 26th of February, 2024 at Room G1, New Block. Sandeep Suresh, BDO at Xylem Learning in Calicut served as the resource person, sharing his expertise on essential managerial skills. This talk provided valuable insights into effective management practices, helping attendees to develop and refine the skills necessary for successful leadership and organizational growth.

The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College organized a National Level Inter-Collegiate Management Fest, “Thriamvos’24,” on February 21st and 22nd, 2024. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Vigi V Nair, Head of the Department. Dr. Santhosh V. M., Principal of Payyanur College, presided over the function, while the inauguration was carried out by Mr. Subhash Babu K., Founder and Managing Director of MIZONE. On January 31, 2024, the Department of Management Studies organized Opus’24, a Skill Development Programme aimed at promoting creativity and craftsmanship among students. The event was presided over by the Head of the Department, Dr. Vigi V Nair, and inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. VM Santhosh. The welcome address was delivered by Archana K, with felicitations by Mr. Muhammed Thayyib and Adarsh P Raj. The main objective of the programme was to provide a platform for students to showcase their arts and crafts skills. Highlights included various student-made delicacies that added a unique touch to the event. Additionally, the programme invited students from other departments to display an impressive array of artefacts crafted from natural materials, such as pottery, bottle work, textiles, and decorative items, reflecting the region's cultural heritage. Complementing the artefact display, students also prepared and sold a variety of natural food products, including traditional snacks, pickles, jams, cakes, and sweets.

The Department of Management Studies celebrated Christmas spreading the message of joy and happiness. The students and teachers participated in various activities like carol singing, making of cribs etc. We all shared the Christmas cake with each other. It was a very joyful event.

The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, orgnised a talk on the "Success of Women in Business World" on the 22nd of November, 2023. The resource person for this event is Bhama Jito, who is the Branch Head at IAM B-School. This talk aims to shed light on the achievements and challenges faced by women in the business sector, offering insights and inspiration to aspiring women leaders. The event was presided over by the Head of the Department, Dr. Vigi V Nair. The welcome address was delivered by Archana K, with felicitations by Mr. Muhammed Thayyib and Adarsh P Raj.Vote of Thanks was rendered by Ms. Devasena P, III BBA student.

As a part of MOU activity,the Department of Management Studies organized an enlightening session titled "Rewire Your Brain" on the 16th of November, 2023. This session, scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM in Room No. G3, will be led by Ms. Monisha K, an Assistant Professor and Research Scholar from the Department of Management Studies at Dr. Ambedkar Arts and Science College. The talk explored techniques and strategies for enhancing cognitive functions and fostering a growth mindset, providing attendees with practical tools to reshape their thought processes and improve overall mental well-being.

The Department of Management Studies conducted a yoga session on 27/10/2023. The session was handled by Sreyas Kumar, I BBA student who is also a yoga instructor

On 19th September 2023, Department of Management Studies and Department of Physical Education hosted a felicitation ceremony to honor Alka Raghav, a II DC BBA student, for her outstanding achievement in the IPF World Junior Deadlift Championship 2023 held in Romania. Alka Raghav was celebrated for winning the silver medal while representing India in this prestigious competition. The ceremony took place at 1:30 PM in the Seminar Hall of Payyanur College, where students, faculty, and staff gathered to congratulate Alka on her remarkable accomplishment and to acknowledge her dedication and hard work in bringing pride to the college and the nation.

Department of Management Studies celebrated Teachers’ Day on 05/09/2023 with various programmes in a jovial manner. As a part of celebration, few of the senior students took an initiative to conduct classes for their juniors. Devasena P, Maneesha K V and Shazeeb Abdul Sathar of III DC BBA took classes for the second-year students and Fathimathul MInnath and Meenakshi P P of III DC and Thushar K V of II DC handled classes for first year students. Students organised fun activities and games ensuring the participation of both teachers and students. The celebration was concluded with a cake cutting arranged by the students as their token of love.

Department of Management Studies celebrated Onam on 25/08/2023 at G1, New Block, bringing together all students and teachers in a joyful and festive atmosphere. The event was filled with happiness as everyone shared in the traditional festivities, creating a sense of community and togetherness. The vibrant decorations and delicious Onam feast added to the delight of the day, making it a memorable occasion for the entire department.

On August 14, 2023, the Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College hosted a felicitation ceremony for the top scorers. The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a vibrant and creative event titled 'Freedom Art: An Art and Craft Making Competition.' This initiative was part of the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,' celebrating 75 years of India's independence. The event was held on 14th August 2023 at G1 of the New Block. Students from various departments eagerly participated in the competition, showcasing their artistic talents and creativity. This event explored the fundamental principles that guide ethical behavior and the importance of human values in a professional setting. Students gained a deeper understanding of how these elements contribute to a positive and productive work environment, fostering integrity, respect, and excellence within organizations. This talk is an excellent opportunity for individuals to reflect on their professional conduct and learn how to navigate ethical dilemmas effectively.

The Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, organised a career-oriented programme as part of the M-M Series, focusing on competitive exams. This event took place on the 31st of July, 2023, at 2 PM in Room G1, New Block. The session led by resource persons Shana and Sayooj, both faculty members specializing in Quantitative, Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning at T.I.M.E Kannur. Coordinated by Dr. Vigi V Nair (HOD), Mrs. Archana K, and Mr. Muhammed Thayyib K, this programme aims to equip students with essential skills and strategies to excel in various competitive examinations.

Department of Management Studies, Payyanur College organised “ALUMNI MEET’23”- a get-together of alumni of seven batches (from 2014 to 2020 batch) on 29/07/2023 at Seminar Hall, Payyanur College. The Meet was conducted in a blended mode (both online and offline) so that the students who are from outside can also participate in the programme. The gathering has been led the alumni to reconnect with each other and collect their beautiful memories once again. The Alumni started arriving in college by around 10.30 a.m. The official inaugural function was started with a welcome address by Mrs.Archana K, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Management Studies. The function was presided by Dr Vigi V Nair, Head, Department of Management Studies and the inaugural address given by Dr. Santhosh V M, Principal, Payyanur College. Followed by, 'Jishnu Memorial Endowment' for BBA toppers was handed over by the BBA first batch (2014-17) students to the Principal in memory of their classmate Jishnu. Dr. Swaran P R (IQAC coordinator) and Mr. Arjun V P (College Union student representative) felicitated the function and the formal session was ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr.Muhammed Thayyib (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Management Studies).

Department of Management Studies organised a programme “Career in Abroad” on 20/07/2023 at 1.30pm in G1 Class, Payyanur College. The session aims to get an awareness about the career opportunities for students in abroad after BBA course. The resource person Mr.Alensha, MD, Intellectual Abroad, handled the one hour session for both II & III year BBA students. The session gave an overview about the Post graduate courses and diploma courses of various Universities in different foreign countries. And also discussed about the procedure of applying the course and scholarships provided by the institutions. They also gave an insight about the financial support provided for the banks. The session was very informative and beneficial for the students

On June 19, 2023, the Department of Economics and the Department of Management Studies at Payyanur College, Payyanur, jointly organized a dissemination workshop titled "Seeking Ikigai: Envisioning a Holistic Education." The event took place in the Seminar Hall and featured Dr. Altaf S, Assistant Professor at the School of Management Studies, NIT Calicut, as the resource person. The program was convened by Nithya K, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics. The workshop was meticulously planned by a committee comprising Binila Mathews, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, and students from III DC Economics and BBA. The event also had the support and guidance of Dr. Sunitha B Nair, Head of the Department of Economics, and Dr. Vigi V Nair, Head of the Department of Management Studies. The workshop focused on exploring the concept of Ikigai and its application in envisioning a holistic approach to education.
