TALK ON UNDERSTANDING THE NOBEL LAUREATE

Department of Commerce organised an invited talk on “Understanding the Nobel Laureate ” on Claudia Goldin, the Economics Nobel Prize Winner 2023. Dr Narayanan P ( Asst Professor, EKNM Govt College, Elerithattu, Kasaragod explained in detail the works of Claudia Goldin.

Teacher’s Day Celebrations

On Sept 5, teacher’s day the Department of Commerce honoured former Principal ( Payyanur College ) and former HoD Dr P V Premavalli. Dr P Santhosh presided over the function. Dr Jayarajan T K, Smt Krishna Nambiar and Dr Nisamudheen T were present. After the honouring, teacher interacted with first year B Com students.

TALK WITH PRINCIPAL& ADD ON COURSE CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION

Department of Commerce arranged a session with Principal prof(Dr) Santhosh V M on 8 th august 2023 at room no G 28. Principal distributed certificates of Add on course in Principles and Practice in Co- Operation. He talked to final year B Com students on various topics and elevated their level of motivation and thinking.

Felicitation to Toppers of Department of Commerce

Department of Commerce organised Felicitation programme for honouring the Toppers of last year Kannur University Bcom examination. Department of Commerce maintained its first position in the university pass percentage. Mr Sasikumar M V (Director, ICM, Trivandrum )inaugurated the programme. He distributed momentos to 9 A+ grade holders and 24 A grade holders. He congratulated the winners and spoke to students on the topic “How to Define Success”.Dr P Santhosh ( HoD) presided over the function.Prof (Dr)V M Santhosh ( Principal),Mrs Krishna Nambiar, Dr Nisamudheen T, sri Arjun K V ( Union Representative) spoke at the function.

Quizzeria 23 and ” Focus the Future”

The Department of Commerce, Payyanur College organised quiz competition and career orientation classes to the plus two commerce students. Prof (Dr) V M Santhosh( Principal, Payyanur College) inaugurated the program. Dr P Santhosh (HOD) prrsided over the function. Dr Jayarajan T K,Smt Krishna Nambiar and Dr Nisamudheen T spoke at the event. 44 students from 20 schools participated at the event. Sidharth S and Harikrishna C V of CPNM GHSS won the first Prize followed by Alakananda C P K and Sreekesh P of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Payyannur. Laya Vijayan and Avani C P of Moothedath Higher Secondary School got the third prize.Followed by the quiz a career orientation class for commerce students were done. Dr Santhosh P and Dr Jayarajan T K handled the classes.

Worshop on Research Methodology

Department of Commerce conducted one day research methodology workshop on Introduction to research. Sri Vaisakh P K ( Senior Research Fellow, Kannur University )handled the session.

Food Fest on 07/03/2023 Bite Fiesta

Department of Commerce organised a food fest on 07/03/2023. The programs were planned and executed by second b com students.

Women’s Day Celebrations

On the eve of womens day celebrations the department of Commerce organised an inter departmental presentation competition on the topic “Women in Business”. 12 teams participated in the competition and Meenakshi and Hiranya of Dept of Management Studies bagged the first prize. Anagha Raj and Thahira Rafiya of Dept of English secured second position and Anagha K V and Nivya C secured third prize. Prof Dr Samthosh V M distributed the cash prizes and certificates and congratulated the organisers for conducting such programs.

Skill Acquisition Workshop

Department of Commerce, ED Club and Girls Welfare Committee of Payyanur College jointly organised oneday skill acquisition workshop on dress designing. This programme is sponsored by Pidilite Co. Prof Dr Santhosh V M inagurated the session. Dr P R Swaran, Dr Jayarajan T K, Dr Santhosh O, Dr Sreemaya C, Smt Krishna Nambiar and Dr Nisamudheen spoke at the event. Smt Sheejakumari and smt Umadevi handled the sessions on Dress Designing and fabric oainting workshop.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND APPLICATION OF SPSS

As part of the Academic Collaboration with the  Department of Commerce, Payyanur College, Payyanur and Department of Commerce ,Co-Operative Arts and Science College, Madayi

                      On 28^th February 2023, Department of Commerce, Payyanur College organized a One day workshop on Research Methodology and Application of SPSS in collaboration with Department of Commerce, Co-Operative Arts and Science College, Madayi for the Commerce students of Co-Operative Arts and Science College, Madayi. Prof Dr Santhosh V M (Principal, Payyanur College) inaugurated the session. Dr P R Swaran (Co-ordinator, IQAC), Dr Remya K P (Asst. Professor and HOD, PG Department of Commerce, CAS Madayi), Dr P Santhosh and Mrs. Krishna Nambiar spoke at the event. Dr Nisamudheen T (Assistant Professor, Payyanur College) handled the workshop. 54 Students (39 M Com Students and 15 Final year B.Com Students) of CAS, Madayi benefitted from this collaboration by using the computer lab facility of Payyanur College for learning data analysis through SPSS. Students expressed their gratitude to the resource person and Payyanur College. They recommended conducting this kind of workshop in the future, with more days.

Organised Entrepreneurship Awareness Program

Department of Commerce and ED Club of Payyanur College, Payyanur organised Entrepreneurship Awareness seminar for its members in association with District Industries Centre. Dr Santhosh V M ( Pricipal, Payyanur College ) inagurated the seminar. Sri Girish Kumar K P( Assistant District Officer, DIC, Taliparamba)welcomed the delegates. Dr Santhosh P( faculty, Dept of Commerce) presided over the function. Smt Krishna Nambiar paid vote of thanks. Dr Nisamudheen T, Sri Sreekanth T V, Sri Josemon were present in the seminar.
Sri Sunil M (Industries Extension Officer,Taliparamba ) and Sri Abhilash Narayanan (Faculty, RUDSET ) handled sessions on entrepreneurship.

Megajob fair organised by Dept of Commerce and PCCA

A megajob fair was organised by Commerce department and Payyanur College Commerce Alumbi Association on Oct 3.2022. The event was inaugurated by College Principal Dr Santhosh V M. Retd Principal Prof K Narayanan, Dr P R Swaran, Dr Jayarajan T K, Dr Santhosh P, Mrs Krishna Nambiar, CA Muhammed Davood C M K, Mr Rajeev K M and Mr Suresh Shenoy were present. ABC Group, HDFC Life, ICICI Prudential, Ideal Decor, Impact Group, LIC, PNB MetLife, Malabar Gold, Sulfex Group and Troikka Pharmaceuticals interviewed 85 prospective employees. Prior to the jobfair PCCAA organised four day sessions on interview skills to the registered candidates.

He distributed momentos to 10 A+ grade holders and 23 A grade holders. He advised the students to think outside the box. He congratulated the winners.Dr P Santhosh welcomed the audience.Dr T K Jayarajan presided over the function.Scolarship for the students were distributed by Sri K Narayanan ( Former Principal).In the function calculators for the first year students were distributed by Payyanur College Commerce Alumni Association.Dr V M Santhosh ( Principal),Dr Sindhu C,Sri Suresh Shenoy, Sri Rajeev K M, Sri Nijil Ahammed,Mrs Krishna Nambiar, Dr Nisamudheen T, Kum Meghna P delivered felicitation speeches.
After the function orientation sessions were given to first B Com students. Dr Thayyib P V, Sri Muhammed Sarbash and Sti Muhammed Ameen handled sessions on Future Ready Gradutes and College to Corporates.

Teachers day celebrations

On the eve of teachers day, Payyanur College Commerce Alumni Association felicitated retired and former faculties of Department of Commerce. The association members visited each faculty at their home and presented momentos to them. Teachers took it to their heart and expressed their joy to the members. Alumni visited Sri K Narayanan ( Retd Principal), Dr P V Premavalli ( Retd Principal ) and former faculties Sri Santhosh C, Sri Kamalakshan P V and Smt Girija K V. The team included Sri Muhamned Davood C M K( president), Smt Krishna Nambiar ( Secretary ), Sri Sajith Paleri, smt Sherly K, Sri Ratheesh E, smt Aparna, Sri Sarbash, sri Luqman Saood and Sri Nishanth Gopal.

Magazine was released.

The launch of the magazine jointly prepared by Payyanur College Commerce Department and Entrepreneurship Development Club was held at the College Seminar Hall. Mr MTP Muhammad Kunhi, Chief Managing Director, Sulfex Group released the magazine to Mr. K. Ramachandran, Manager, Payyanur College. Payyanur College Principal Dr VM Santhosh, College IQAC Coordinator Dr PR Swaran, Dr Jayarajan TK, Dr P Santhosh, Mrs. Krishna Nambiar, Dr Nissamudhin T, Kumari Meghana P, Kumari Nivya C and others spoke on the occasion. The magazine “Leaders Speak” prepared by B.Com students was released by covering the life experiences and experiences of eleven successful individuals in the business field of Kannur district.

“Samriddhi” – lunch program was inaugurated.

Mr. K. Ramachandran Master, President of the College Board of Management, inaugurated the “Samriddhi” scheme to provide free lunch to the needy students under the auspices of Payyannur College Commerce Department. Dr. Jayarajan TK, Head of Commerce Department presided over the function, Payyannur College Principal Dr VM Santhosh, College IQAC Coordinator Dr PR Swaran, Dr P Santhosh, Mrs Krishna Nambiar, Dr Nizamuddin T, Kumari Meghana P, Kumari Nivya C and others spoke on the occasion. This scheme of providing free mid-day meals to the economically backward students of the department is implemented with the help of the alumni of the department of commerce.

Nine students of B.Com participated in different events organized by KIMT Kannur. The team of Naveena Joseph, Fathima Nishana, Aswathy Sreekumar won first prize in the Business Plan competition. In the Business Quiz competition, Adarsh, Subin M K, Saifali team won second prize. In Collage, the team of Janya, Abhijith, and Aiswarya S. Nambiar won second prize.

13 students of B.Com participated in the National Level Management Meet COMET 2013 organized by Donbosco College, Angadikkadavu. The team of Naveena Joseph, Abhijith P V and Aswathy Sreekumar won first prize in the HR game. Adarsh and Subin M K team won second prize in the Business Quiz competition. In the entrepreneurship game the team of Sandhya G, Nithin KK and Saifali won third prize.

Faheem Abdul Khader and Vijeesh team won second prize in the Business Quiz competition and the team of Pravitha, Vineetha, Aiswarya, Arha Preman, Rahna, Abhishek Jayakumar won III prize in the ice breaking competition.
