The Department of Physical education at Payyanur college,Payyanur, organized a fitness awareness class, ‘Fitness Dance’,for students to commemorate National Sports Day.The event saw enthusiastic participation from students,who were guided by Dr.Ambili RAghavan Assistant Professor,Department of Physical Education,Payyanur college,Payyanur on the significance of incorporating physical activities in to daily life.The program was held in an open area,facilitating an engaging and interactive experience.
Dept. of Physical Education of Payyanur College, organized a fitness challenge for Students on the eve of Independence Day celebration. A Fitness challenge was conducted at college fitness centre on 14th August 2024 including two events in the fitness challenge. One being Push ups and other Pull ups. Mr.Ibnu (I BA Hindi) won 1st place in the push ups competition and Mr.Jishnu(II BA History) secured 1st place in the pull up competition. Students actively participated in the challenge showcasing true sportsman spirit.

Department of Physical Education Payyanur college has celebrate third National Javelin day on August 7th Wednesday by conducting javelin throw competition for students, teachers and non teaching staff. In the year 2021 at Tokyo Olympics India's Neeraj Chopra made a history in Javelin Throw by securing gold medal with the distance of 87.58 meters. It was India's first ever gold medal in the Athletics and he becomes the second person who secured individual gold medal in the Olympics after Abhinav Bindra. Athletic Federation of India (AFI) has decided to celebrate August 7 as National Javelin Day.
The program was inaugurated by Mr. Jibin Kerala state sports council Volleyball coach. students from various departments were take part in the competition. Abhinav of B A English bagged first place with the distance of 35.22 meters. Sidharth S K of Dept. of History secured second place. Medals are distributed by Dr.Ambili Raghavan Assistant Professor,department of Physical Education ,Payyanur college to the winners. Mr Ajith K N head of the department conclude the program with vote of thanks.
Department of Physical Education celebrates world mental health day and State Sports Day on 13th October 2023 by conducting a meditation session to the students. The session was handled by Sri. Prajeesh Mallan, Assistant Professor School of physical education and sports sciences, Kannur University. Various techniques used for meditation were practiced during the session. Talk on diet and sleep was also very informative. More than 70 students actively attended the session. Ajith K N (Head of the Department,. Physical Education delivered vote of thanks to the resource person and to the participants.. Through meditation students were get felt very relaxed and cool.

Both Theoretical and practical sessions are included in the seminar. The sessions are handled by Mr Arun K E Assistant Professor, Dept. of PE handled the session on ethics and values in sports. Mr Jibin Mathew, Volleyball Coach, Kerala State Sports Council take the session on volleyball rules and organization of tournament. and Mr Shasin Chandran, Football Coach, Kerala State Sports Council take the session on new law changes and technological advancements in Soccer.
Students from various departments and sports hostel students were actively participated in the seminar. Students were giving a positive feedback on the seminar. The main attraction was the practical cum discussion sessions on the rules and regulations of the games. Mr. Ajith K N, Head of the Department, Physical Education conclude the session.

On behalf of national sports day celebration Dept. of Physical Education organized inter department sports quiz competition on 23rd August 2023. There are 10 teams were take part in the competition. The competition was conducted in two stages. Preliminary round consists of 25 questions and final stage consisted with 5 rounds (cricket, soccer, miscellaneous, visual and option round). Dept. of Economics, Dept. of Physics and Dept. of Mathematics secured First, Second and Third positions respectively. Trophies and cash prices were distributed by Mr. Ajith K.N (Head, Dept. of P E) to the winners.
On the special occasion of Independence day Department of Physical Education organized 5 Km freedom run started from the college gate. Aim of the freedom run was to create awareness among the students about fitness and healthy life style. The motto of the freedom run was “SAY NO TO DRUGS YES TO SPORTS”. The run was flag off by Dr. E.R Swaran, IQAC Coordinator and Head (Department of Chemistry). Mr. Ajith K N, Head Dept. of Physical Education felicitates the function. Shasin Chandran (Football Coach, KSSC) and Jibin Mathew (Volleyball Coach, KSSC) also presented on the occasion.
Dept. of Physical Education and Sports Committee of Payyanur College, Payyanur organized friendly cricket match between Teaching staff and Students on the special occasion of Independence Day celebration. This program was initiated with the motto of “SAY NO TO DRUGS and YES TO SPORTS” and also encourage the cooperation between the staff and and students. Cricket match was conducted at college ground on 14th August 2023. Teachers and students were actively take part in the competition with true sportive spirit.

It was proud and privilege of Payyannur college, Payyannur to honour Mr. Bino George, Head Coach of Kerala Santhosh Trophy team, which won the Santhosh Trophy Football tournament for the year 2021-22. The felicitation programme was organize jointly by Department of Physical Education , Payyanur college, Payyanur and Alumni Association of School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Batch 2001-2004. Dr. P T Joseph former Director of Physical Education, Kannur University was the Chief Guest of the program. Department of Physical Education and Women’s Cell of Payyanur college jointly celebrates women’s day by conducting sports carnival in the campus on 8th March 2022. The program specially designed for lady teachers and students. The program was inaugurated by the College Principal Dr. Santhosh V.M.The sports carnival includes various recreational activities, team games and open challenge competitions etc. With the presence of all teaching as well as non teaching staff the program was a successful one. Mr. Ajith K.N (HoD, Physical Education) and Mr. Shobik took the initiative to conduct the carnival. Recreational game competition between the teachers and Students was one of the best attraction of the program.
