Payyannur College Chemistry Department and Chemistry Alumni Association celebrated Teacher's Day by honoring retired teachers from the Chemistry Department. Prof. M. Lucy, Prof. K. A. Abraham were honored at a function held at their home. Inauguration of the book collection for the classroom library set up under the leadership of Chemistry Alumni. M Lucy officiated at the said function by handing over the book. Chemistry Alumni Vice President Anita VV presided over the program. Second year postgraduate students managed the classes of undergraduate students.

Department Of chemistry Payyanur college, Payyanur organised GLISTEN-2024 on 19^th August 2024. Aim of this programme is to reconnect with former students, share experiences, and foster a sense of community and belongingness .The session was handled by Dr Sachind Prabha P, Dr Athira K K, Dr Ajaykumar M P, Dr Rahul P of 2012-15 batch students. The outcome of the program was a meaningful exchange of ideas, inspiration, and connections that benefit both alumni and current students. On the same day Chemistry club inauguration was done by our former students.

The Prof. K.T. Kunhikrishnan Nambiar Memorial lecture and Rank Holder Felicitation, jointly organized by the Prof. K.T.K. Foundation, Payyanur and the Chemistry Department of Payyannur College, was inaugurated by Dr. Sathees C. Raghavan, Professor and scientist at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and recipient of the Bhatnagar Award. The event was presided over by Prof. Y.V. Sukumaran, Chairman of the Prof. K.T.K. Foundation. K.P. Sreedharan delivered the memorial lecture. Prof. N.K. Govindan, Prof. M. Gopalan, Dr. P.R. Svaran, Dr. P.T. Rakesh, Dr. K.V. Sujith, Shruthi K.P., and Abhinand T. spoke on the occasion. Dr. Sathees C. Raghavan felicitated the Chemistry Department students who achieved high scores at the university and college levels.

As the part of Independence Day, Department of Chemistry in association with Chemistry Club organized two programmes “Identify our Nations Patriots” on 14 th August 2024 and “Rangoli” (Tricolor Rangoli for Nations Independence) on 16 th August 2024.This programme aims to educate and inspire current and future generations to  realise the importance of life and liberty that we attained through the sacrifice of numerous patriots and leaders.

Dr. Vishnunarayanan Namboothiri, who completed his PhD in Chemistry recently from NIT-Trichy and is an alumnus of Payyannur College Chemistry department, interacted with the students of the Chemistry department at Payyannur College on 12th August 2024."

Department of Chemistry in association with chemistry club celebrated world environment day by planting a tree on 05/05/2024 and conducted a digital poster making competiton for college students

Department of Chemistry felicitated Sreelakshmi M K. (2020-23 BSc Chemistry batch) for securing 57 ^th Rank in IIT-JAM -2024 Examination on 25/03/2024 at PS6.Dr. Santhosh V M, Principal Payyanur College, joined the felicitation program.  

The Inter Collegiate Chemistry Fest “CHEMKEMAM” was held on 18 ^th March 2024. The fest was held as a part of celebrating National Science Day. Several fun and educational competitions were held such as AcTOM, Smarticus Bazaar,Raasa Kolam,Chameleon,Doccumentary,Chemtoon and Passion show.The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Biju A R ,Associate Professor in Chemistry,Kannur University.Prizes were distributed by Dr.Santhosh V M,Principal,Payyanur College.

PG and Research Department of Chemistry, Payyanur & Prof.K.T.K Foundation, Payyanur in association with The Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) organized One Day National Seminar “Recent Advances in Chemical Research (RACR-2024) ” on 25 ^th January 2024 at Seminar hall, Payyanur College.Dr.Arun M.Isloor,Professor,NIT-Karnataka inaugurated the programme Resource persons are Dr.Yamuna K.M,and Prof.P.Venugopalan .Dr.Santosh V.M,Sri.K.Ramachandran Master,Dr.Swaran P.R,Prof.Y.V.Sukumaran were joined the programme.

Department of Chemistry has conducted Digital Poster Making competition and awareness programmes as part of World ozone day celebrations on 16 ^thSeptember 2023.

Department of chemistry celebrated teachers day on 5^th September 2023 by honouring Prof.N K Govindan, Rtd.Principal,Govt.College, Peringome,president of Chemistry Alumni Association and delivered a talk. A memento handed over to Dr.Sujith K V (Best NSS Programme Officer 2021-22, State Level) by Prof.Govindan sir to honour his achievement.

As the part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" Department of Chemistry in association with IQAC and Chemistry Club organized two programmes on 14 ^th August 2023.“ Freedom Salt” at Edanad U P School,Edat.This programme aims to educate and inspire current and future generations about the sacrifices made for India's independence and the enduring values of self-reliance, unity, and non-violent resistance. Second Programme was Freedom Quiz at PES Vidyalaya,Edat.

On 14 ^th August 2023, Dept. Of Chemistry hosted a felicitation program to honour outstanding performance of UG and PG toppers in Kannur University examinations. Prizes were distributed by Ramachandran Master, President, Board of Management,Payyanur Educational Society. Inauguration of Chemistry club was done by Dr. Ranjith P Senior Chemical Analyst, ADNOC,Abu Dhabi. On the same day Ramachandran Master, Distributed the books to students sponsored by Dr.V Geetha,Former HoD,Department Of Chemistry,Payyanur College.

Late Prof. K.T. Kunhikrishnan Nair, Former HoD, Department of Chemistry, Payyanur College memorial talk was done by Dr. P.Balakrishnan,Rtd.Principal ,Payyannur college on 11-08-2023 at seminar hall, Payyanur College. The chief guest of the program was Dr.Shima P.D, Assistant Professor, SAT Campus, Kannur University delivered a talk on “Magnetic Nanomaterial for Real World Applications”.

Department of Chemistry felicitated Abhishek A.G on 4 ^th August 2023(2018-21 BSc Chemistry batch) for securing scholarship to carry out research in ‘Anti Cancer Drugs’, at University of Alabama, USA, supported by American National Institute of health. Dr. Santhosh V M, Principal Payyanur College, Dr. Swaran P. R., IQAC Coordinator joined the felicitation program.

On 26th May 2023, P.G. Department of Chemistry, Payyanur College, Payyanur, Kannur conducted an online seminar on “Research methodology and thesis writing” for Ug, Pg and Research students in. The session was given by Dr Vijesh A M, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Payyanur College, Payyanur, through Google Meet Platform in between 10:30-11:30 am. The main targets of the programme was Ug, Pg students of Payyanur College and also research scholars. Nearly 50 students were participated in the programme.

P.G. Department of Chemistry, Payyanur College, Payyanur, Kannur organized stem cell donation camp at seminar hall, Payyanur College in association with  IQAC, NSS, NCC, Datri blood stem cell donares registry on 09/03/2023

These competitions not only tested the participant’s knowledge on Chemistry, but also their memory and time management skills.CHEMKEMAM was inaugurated by Dr Aneesh Kumar Warrier, Associate professor, Department of Geology, Center for Climatic Studies Manipal. The other honourable dignitaries present on the dais were Payyanur college principal, Dr. Santhosh V M, Chemistry HoD Dr. Rahana Ameen, Dr. Prakash V, Union Chairman Athul Raj and Chemistry association secretary Adithya K P
