Dr. Deepamol P.C. led the session, which drew 40 local participants. Students sold mushroom spawn, promoting sustainable agriculture and community development.

The Kannur District Botany Teacher Association, in collaboration with the Postgraduate Department of Botany at Payyanur College, organized an enlightening Eco Walk programme titled "Studia Divarsitatis Plantae" on September 7, 2024. Dr. Ratheesh Narayanan, a faculty member from the Payyanur College Botany Department, served as the resource person for the event. The programme aimed to promote awareness and appreciation for rare and medicinal plants. Participants embarked on a guided walk through the Johncy Vanam Conservation Garden, a haven for diverse plant species, and the Kunhimangalam Mangrove Ecosystem, a unique coastal ecosystem. Dr. Narayanan expertly introduced and explained the significance of various plant species, fostering a deeper understanding and connection with nature among the participants. The event proved to be a resounding success, inspiring a sense of wonder and stewardship for the natural world.

The PG Department of Botany and Kunhiyangalam Magakuttayima conducted a grafting ceremony, "Grafting Gandhi's Heritage," on August 14, 2024, to commemorate India's 78th Independence Day. The event preserved a historic mango tree planted by Mahatma Gandhi in 1934, promoting environmental conservation, community engagement, and sustainable practices.

To mark the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, the PG Department of Botany at Payyanur College organized a mangrove restoration programme in the Payyanur Municipality area. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Isaac Phua, a climate consultant from Singapore, on August 10, 2024, at the Kavayyi Backwater area. Botany students planted over 1000 Rhizophora mucronata seedlings in the degraded mangrove region. The program was a collaborative effort with the Kallen Pokkudan Mangrove Trust, Rotary Club of Payyanur, and Payyanur Municipality.

The PG Department of Botany at Payyanur College successfully conducted a sale of mushroom spawn on July 29, 2024, at 2:30 PM within the department premises. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Muhammed Haneef K A , Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at Brennan College, who graced the occasion with his presence. Dr. P.R. Swarn, the IQAC Coordinator, extended warm felicitations to the department for the initiative. The sale was well-received by the P G Student Arya K, showcasing the department's commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. The department successfully sold 4.5 kg of mushroom spawn to a total of 4 interested buyers. The department also acknowledges the hard work and dedication of its faculty and students in making this event a success. The department hopes to continue such initiatives in the future, contributing to the growth of the local community and promoting awareness about mushroom cultivation.

The PG Department of Botany at Payyanur College, with the support of the Rotary Club of Payyanur, initiated a Miyawaki forest on the college campus on 29th July 2024, planting 150 seedlings of 51 species of native flowering plants in a 25-cent area. The project was inaugurated by Rotary District 3201 Governor Dr. Santhosh Sreedhar. Thirty-seven students and Rotarians enthusiastically participated in planting the seedlings

NSS Unit 10 organized a Blood Stem Cell Donation Awareness and Registration Camp in association with Department of Zoology, Botany, IQAC and DKMS BMST. Blood stem cell donation is the last hope for fatal diseases like leukaemia. The event was organised by DKMS BMST Foundation India. Later, NSS volunteers facilitated and helped about 200 students who were interested in blood stem cell donation registration. Ashwin Dev, a student of politics department of Payyannur College, who is a blood stem cell donor, shared his experiences. Principal Dr. Premachandran Keezhoth inaugurated the programme and felicitated Ashwin Dev. ICAI Coordinator Dr. P R Swaran, NSS Unit 10 Programme Officer Dr Surekha T V, Secretary Vishnu C V and Athena spoke on the occasion NSS 10 has been awarded by DKMS BMST Foundation India for its excellent coordination.

On July 12, 2024, the PG Department of Botany and Kunhiyangalam Mangakuttayima jointly implemented the "Ormakalude Cherumathoppu" project, planting traditional mango varieties at the Unique Talent Vocational Skill Training Centre, Edat. Supported by Kasargod Akkara Foundation and Pilathara Inspire, the event began at 10:30 am with Dr. Deepamol P.C. (Assistant Professor, Botany Department) inaugurating the program by planting a mango tree variety. Mrs. Seema Mundachali delivered the presidential address, emphasizing conservation, and donated tree saplings to students, encouraging them to participate in preserving biodiversity and promoting environmental sustainability.

The PG Department of Botany at Payyanur College successfully organized a two-day workshop on mushroom spawn preparation on the 10th and 11th of July, 2024. The workshop was aimed at providing hands-on training to participants in the techniques and methodologies involved in mushroom spawn preparation. The workshop was inaugurated by the Principal of Payyanur College, Dr. (Prof) V.M. Santhosh. In his inaugural address, Dr. Santhosh highlighted the potential of mushroom cultivation as a sustainable and profitable agricultural practice. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Janeesh E.T., a renowned microbiologist, lab technician, and entrepreneur. Mr. Janeesh brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the workshop, ensuring that participants received high-quality training. 73 students from various department participated in the programme.

On July 6, 2024, the PG Department of Botany at Payyanur College, in collaboration with SABTM HSS Thayineri, SABTM Thayineri NSS Unit, and Kunhiyangalam Magakuttayima, launched the "Madhuram" project, an initiative focused on traditional mango tree planting, promoting environmental sustainability, and conserving mango germplasm." The event, held at 9:30 am, saw the planting of 300 mango tree saplings, inaugurated by P.V. Kunjappan, Vice Chairman of Payyanur Municipality, who symbolically planted a 'Pathma Sree' mango tree sapling. K.K. On February 17, 2024, the PG Department of Botany at Payyanur College organized a workshop on Budding and Grafting (Nursery Techniques) in collaboration with Kunhimangalam Grama Panchayath and Kunjangalam Manga Kootayma at Kovvapuram. On February 3, 2024, the PG Department of Botany, in collaboration with Wild Trust of India (WTI), observed World Wetland Day with a mangrove restoration programme at Thuruthi, Payyanur. Students engaged actively in planting over 500 mangrove saplings along the shoreline, guided by WTI experts who emphasized the ecological importance of wetlands and mangroves.

On the occasion of World Food Day, October 16, 2023 the PG Department of Botany at Payyanur College, in collaboration with the Payyanur College NSS Unit 11 and the Payyanur College Biodiversity Club, organized a special event aimed at celebrating the importance of millets in our diet and the genetic diversity they offer. PG Botany department in collaboration with ‘Kunjangalam Manga Kootayma’ and Trikaripur Grama Panchayath organised the program titled "Ormakaludae Cheru Manthoppu" aims to conserve the traditional mango varieties of the Kannur and Kasaragod districts of Kerala. The formal inauguration of the program took place on July 22nd 2023 at Nadakavu, Trikaripur. The inauguration was done by Dr. V Balakrishnan, who is a former Member Secretary of the Kerala State Biodiversity Board and also holds the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). The chief guest for the event was P Dhanesh Kumar, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Social Forestry.
