The Department of Management Studies organized a Skill Development Programme on 31/01/2024,  Opus-24.The Head of the Department, Dr Vigi V Nair presided over the function. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr VM Santhosh. The welcome address was rendered by, Archana K, Mr. Muhammed Thayyib and Adarsh P Raj rendered the felicitation address. The main aim of the programme was to develop a platform where students showcased their arts and craft skills. Also students made various delicacies by themselves which was the highlight of the programme.

16/02/2024: Association Inauguration & Entrepreneurial Talk
The Department of Management Studies inaugurated Management Studies. Association and organized an Entrepreneurial Talk on 16/02/2024.The Head of the Department, Dr Vigi V Nair presided over the function. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Muhammed S Madani (Managing Direstor, Shopprix India PvtLtd). The welcome address was rendered by Archana K, Mr. Muhammed Thayyib and Anagha (Vice Chairman, College Union) rendered the felicitation address. The resource person shared his experience with students.. Also students made interaction with the resource person.

ANTI DRUG CAMPAIGN

Drug addiction is a symbol of distress which may offer relief but it is a trap of a cage one lives in. With proper education and word of mouth to the community, this addiction can be stopped even before it is started. With regard to the above perspective, the Department of Management Studies, Payyanur college conducted programmes of Drug Abuse to convey the message of being stronger than the strongest excuse.
At first, the BBA degree students of the department pledged their commitment on 16th December 2022 to desist from using Narcotics substances and work together to eradicate the drug menace. A massive oath was well designed by 70 students and 4 teachers to sensitize the youth on the ill effects of drug abuse.
This was followed by an Elocution competition conducted at the department level at 2pm on Friday 16th December 2022. The welcome speech was rendered by Dr Viji V Nair, Assistant Professor, the inaugural address was given by Archana Kemanabally, Head of Department. Mr. Muhammed Thayyib & Mr Adarsh Raj P, Assistant Professors felicitated the function. The Vote of thanks was rendered by Athul Krishnan, Department Association Secretary. 5 participants namely Adithyan R, Thushar K V, Sharon Biju, Anagha Raveendran K & Fathima Shaniya B took part in this competition. Anagha Raveendran K was placed first and Sharon Biju was placed 2nd. Prizes were distributed by Archana Kemanabally, Head of the Department.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME


The Orientation Programme was conducted jointly with the Management Studies Alumni Association on 19th September 2022. It was a one-day interactive event conducted in G-1 from 9:30am till noon. Ganga C V (Batch 2015-2018), Associate Market Analyst, IDC & Meera P V (Batch 2015-2018), Research Analyst, Decimal Point Analytics were the resource persons for this programme. The official inauguration was conducted by the faculty members of the department. The Head of the Department inaugurated the session addressing the importance of soft skill development and imbibing a sense of zest and enthusiasm required for the development of their personality and career. Muhammed Thayyib, Assistant Professor & Adarsh P Raj, Assistant Professor on contract gave the felicitation address. Dr. Vigi V Nair, Assistant Professor gave the Vote of Thanks.
An in-dept presentation of the course, its prospects, personality development, soft skill development etc. were the areas of discussion. The students interacted with openness and participated with great enthusiasm in all the activities conducted by the resource persons. It was indeed an ice breaker session which enabled the students in developing the right attitude such as resilience, respect, enthusiasm and creativity because of all the life skills available to us Communication is more empowering and demanding in the field of Business.

EKTA-A cultural bizarre

To commemorate 75 years of independence, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, an initiative of the Government of India, was celebrated in Payyanur College by various Departments depicting the mark of glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.
The Department of Management Studies conducted “EKTA- A cultural bizarre” on 12th August 2022. The show was based on the theme “Unity in Diversity” being a guideline to the vibrant culture, traditions and costumes of India. The second year BBA students, the organisers of this programme, dazzled the audience with a sparkling event to showcase their line of costumes and accessories representing states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Rajasthan.
Soon after the inauguration various departments namely Economics, History, Mathematics, Commerce & Hindi participated in the competition. It debuts models dressed in the attire of various states namely Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Kashmir, West Bengal etc. The attire was illuminated with the fragrance of the various colours, their culture, dance forms and traditions. The entire show was magnificently dilated with joy and happiness.
The Hindi department bagged the first prize followed by Department of Economics in the second position.
Indeed, this prestigious event travelled across the zest and enthusiasm through the entire Department creating milestones of success.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

“Manufacturing Quality Designs is the silent Brand Ambassador of a product / service”
The Department of Management Studies conducted the Industrial Visit for the students pursuing their IV Semester BBA as a part of their course structure under the Kannur University. A total of 34 students accompanied by 3 staff members attended the programme. The visit was scheduled to Fortune Elastomers Pvt Ltd, Kinaloor Branch, Balussery, Kozhikode on 24th July 2022.
The main aim of this study is to understand the working of a manufacturing firm inorder to understand the processes, machine layout, materials handling, Inventory management, Quality maintenance procedures, etc. These activities are the basic activities which are conducted in an organisation; hence the students were given an opportunity to witness the working of a firm visually.
The entire team was divided into two halves which were supported by the staff of the enterprise. They explained in detail the various processes and working of the firm. The students travelled across various departments and identified the actual structure of the firm. After the visit a presentation was made highlighting the progress and prospects of the company in future. We were highly overwhelmed by the kind hospitality of the organisation.
Based on the visit the students are advised to submit a report regarding the same.
This opportunity was indeed helpful to convert theory to practice.

The Felicitation of Toppers 2022 was organized by the Department of Management Studies on 8th August 2022 at the Seminar Hall, Payyanur College. This programme was inaugurated by Dr. V M Santhosh, Principal Payyanur College. It was presided by Archana Kemanabally,Head-Department of Management Studies. The Welcome speech was given by Dr. Vigi V Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies. Dr. Swaran P R,IQAC Co-ordinator and Mr. Gopikrishnan, Student Editor-College Union gave the felicitation address. The Vote of Thanks was given by Muhammed Thayyib, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies.

The Principal distributed the awards to the toppers of the Kannur University BBA Degree Examinations 2022. Vaheeda P P bagged the first position, Jyothika K bagged the forth position. Fayiza Kadavath, Thasneema S N P, Fathimath Zoya S K P, Jaseela Thasneem, Ranjima Rajan, Sandra Prasad and Aamira Nasrin was awarded A grade in the examination. This moment was a proud moment which flagships our determination and hard work put in by both teachers and students which resulted in the recipe of our success.

Medical Awareness Camp with free medical checkup organized in collaboration with Rotary Club Of Kunhimangalam & Pariyaram Medical College-20/08/2017

The Department of Management Studies jointly with Rotary Club of Kunhimangalam & Pariyaram Medical College organized a medical awareness camp and free medical checkup. Dr. Sunil Kumar Yemman, Chairman of Rotary Club gave the welcome address. This function was inaugurated by T.V.Rajesh, MLA.The felicitation address was given by Sri M.Kunhiraman (Panchayath President, Kunhimangalam), Dr K.T Ravindran (Principal, Payyanur College), Mrs.Archana Kemanabally (Head, Department of Management Studies, Payyanur College), Sri P Rajeevan(Secretary, Station Brothers, Kunhimangalam) & Dr. Vigi V Nair(Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies). The Vote of Thanks was rendered by Rtn Rameshan Mappidicheri (Secretary, Rotary Club Kunhimangalam)

An Awareness programme was conducted by our students. They got an opportunity to communicate with the society at large and benefitted from imparting knowledge across. Their enthusiasm prolonged the entire event.

A free Medical checkup for the residents of that locality was also initiated by Pariyaram Medical College. Around 300 people participated in this programme.

Alumni Association Meeting – 04/08/2017

The first alumni Meet was conducted on 4/08/2017. The welcome address was given by Archana Kemanabally, Head, Department of Management Studies. The Inaugural address was given by our Principal, Dr.K.T Ravindran, Dr. Vigi V Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies and Prajisha P Parol, Guest Lecturer, Department of Management Studies gave the felicitation address. The officials were elected for a period of 1 year. A contribution of Rs.100 each was made for the purchase of a mike to the department on their behalf. Yearly meetings were suggested in the month of June every year. Nimitha Padmanabhan, Guest Lecturer, Department of Management Studies gave the vote of thanks

Felicitation of Toppers – 28/07/2017

In the Kannur University Degree Examination, our college ranked first amongst 19 colleges with pass percentage of 81. 5. Also Fathima P.P (8.164 CGPA) bagged the third rank in the University Examination and 14 students got distinction out of 22 students

Regional Seminar on ‘Challenges in the new business era’ – 25/07/2017

A one day regional seminar was conducted on the topic Challenges in the new business era. The first session was taken by Mr. K.V Madhusudhanan Nair, Rt. IG North Eastern States, CRPF on the topic Importance of ethics and values in Management. The welcome address was given by Archana Kemanabally, Head, Department of Management Studies; The Principal Dr. K.T Ravindran gave the inaugural address. Sneha P.V, III BBA student gave the profile of the speaker. Dr. Vigi V Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies gave the felicitation address. The Vote of Thanks was given by Meera P.V, III BBA student. This session continued from 9.30am to 12.00pm.

The second session from2.00pm to 4.00pm was rendered by U. Mohanan, Chartered Accountant on the topicGST-An Overview. Golden Jubilee Celebrations – 19/01/2015 to 25/01/2015

The Department of Management Studies and The Department of Commerce organized jointly 2 stalls comprising of the following themes:

a) A display of various currencies of the world and a detailed presentation of the concept of Time Value of Money was conducted by our students.

b) A display showing the various stages of Product Development seen in musical instruments from those used in ancient times till those used in modern time

c) An extensive display of the iconic representation of KIAL (Kannur International Airport Limited) which is the biggest project conducted in Kerala.

d) A wide display of Dinesh Products, showing the various levels of Product Diversification adopted by this company.

e) Hands on Buzzer– a GK based Quiz Competition for the visitors ranging from students to professionals. A number of prizes were also distributed

One day Seminar on Financial Planning – 30/09/2014

The Department of Management Studies in collaboration with the Commerce Department organized a one day seminar on Financial Planning.
