PHYSICAL, ACADEMIC, AND SUPPORT FACILITIES – AT A GLANCE
The college has the following facilities/fixtures as special attractions in addition to the classrooms and other essential common facilities like laboratories, rest rooms, canteen, smart classrooms, playgrounds etc. The facilities are well maintained and are put to optimum use.
Library: A partially-automated three-storeyed library with more than 5300 books.
Computer Lab: A computer lab with 36 computers set with the financial aid from Sri. P. Karunakaran, Member of Parliament, under MPLAD Scheme is functioning in the college. Another computer lab with 50 computers shall be operational soon.
Audio-Visual Centre: A full-fledged audio-visual centre functions in the college.
Language Lab: A language lab with one teacher console and 15 student consoles is set up in the college for improving the English language skills of the students.
Women’s Hostel: A women’s hostel built with the financial aid from the UGC is functioning in the college. 90 girl students are accommodated in the hostel.
Co-operative Society & Store: A co-operative society that deals in books and stationery and also having Xerox facilities is functioning on the campus. The society also provides loan facility to its members.
Auditorium: A fully-furnished 1000 seated auditorium is a proud possession of the college. All the major functions are conducted here.
Multi Gym: A multi gym set up with UGC aid is available in the college for fitness training.
Herbal Garden: A herbal garden of more than 300 species is maintained by the Dept. of Botany.
Johncy Vanam: A conservation garden having more than 50 endemic species found in the Western Ghats is maintained by the Dept. of Botany.
Medicinal Tree Conservation Garden: A garden that maintains over 100 species of medicinal trees is also maintained by the Dept. of Botany.
History and Heritage Museum: A museum that preserves thematically-arranged pre-historic stone tools, replica of Harappan seals, megalithic monuments, agricultural implements, and other similar items of historical value is maintained by the Dept. of Botany.
Solar Power Plant: A 21.5 KV solar power generation system is operational in the college. It meets most of the power requirements of the college.
Rainwater Harvest Ponds: A ferro cement rainwater harvest pond with 8.5-9 lakh litre carrying has been remaining as an icon of water management on the campus.
Alumni Park: A park set up by the first batch BSc Mathematics alumni serves as the important centre of cultural interaction. The park is constructed in an eco-friendly way.
400-Metre Athletic Track and Football Field: A 400-metre athletic track with a football field inside was constructed in the college with UGC aid.
