PAYYANUR COLLEGE CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY

To instill the patriotic fervour and to carry the undying spirit unto the last a day long Exhibition named Freedom@75 Expo was hosted by Payyanur College in association with IQAC, and departments of Chemistry, Economics and History and College Library. The exhibition showcased live spinning by Payyanur Firka Khadi Gramodyog Sangh, books on Indian independence by Central Library, photographs of the making of Gandhi and freedom struggle, old coins and stamps, home and agricultural equipments from the past, much talked about cartoons of R. K. Shankar, Vikram Varma, Ahmed, remnants of mud pots from megalithic age. The programme became special when kids from 4 schools near Payyanur College participated in the exhibition and their responses where overwhelming. The students of Chemistry department also gave presentations to school students on dyeing process using natural colours like indigo and it’s nuances in history. Programme was inaugurated by Sri. K. Ramachandran master, President, Payyanur Education Society and son of freedom fighter Sri. Kannoth Kunhiraman Nair. Principal Dr. V. M. Santhosh presided over the functions, Head of the Department of History Sri. K. M. Dileepan welcomed the gathering, IQAC Coordinator Dr. P. R. Swaran rendered felicitation and Dr. P. Prasanth said vote of thanks. The programme served as a good reminder to the young generations to imbibe in the past.
